STAFF POSITION OPENING
Highlands Presbyterian Church currently has a part time opening for an Organist/Accompanist. Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest and resume to: admin@highlandspreschurch.org. No phone calls please. The position description is below:

Primary Purpose:  Accompany the church choir during weekly rehearsals and Sunday worship services. Prepare and provide additional music during worship including but not limited to, prelude, offertory, postlude, and communion. Bring a rich and varied musical experience to worship services and other programs throughout the year.

Experience Needed:

• Proficient at piano/electronic keyboard, and church organ
• Experience with liturgical worship
• Able to accompany choral groups or soloists
• Able to sight read hymns and octavo music

Responsibilities:

• Work with Director of Music to select appropriate music for worship services
• Be comfortable with a variety of music styles and genres, including but not limited to, contemporary praise music, traditional sacred music, classical music, modern choral, etc.
• Play for weekly choir rehearsals from September – June
• Play for weekly Sunday worship services and special worship services throughout the year including Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving morning, Christmas Eve
• Play for special choral programs including concerts and fundraisers
• Play for funerals and weddings
• Works with Director of Music to provide music opportunities for youth during worship services, Vacation Bible School or Discovery Club
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings
• Arrange for a qualified substitute for choir rehearsals or worship services when necessary
• Arrange for technical service for the organ and Clavinova, and for piano tunings as needed with prior approval of the Director of Music
• Arrive at weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning worship services completely prepared to support the choir and ensure a meaningful practice session and/or worship experience
• Ability to play other instruments desirable
• Other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Director of Music
